Marne Kilates lives in Manila. He has written four books of poetry, Children of the Snarl (1988), Poems en Route (1998), Mostly in Monsoon Weather (2007), and Pictures as Poems/Poems as Pictures (2012). He also translates Filipino poetry into English, and his numerous books of translation include works of Rio Alma, Bienvenido Lumbera, Rogelio Mangahas, and Jesus Manuel Santiago. Kilates has won the Palanca and the National Book awards, and in 1998 was given the Southeast Asia Write Award (SEA Write) by the Thai royalty.
